Today, the fitness tracking giant Strava released its newest membership service that includes three new packages—one of which is solely dedicated to safety.
The Safety Package arrives with Strava’s new membership service, Summit, which will replace Strava Premium (Current Premium members will not lose access to their advanced features).
One of the main features of the the Safety Package is the Beacon tool, which has been a part of Strava Premium membership. This allows you to add a safety contact, who can track you in real time during your activity. That means he or she can see if you stopped your run to get a coffee, if you are stuck on the side of the trail, or if you suddenly veer off course.
In addition, you also get route-planning assistance for on and off well traveled routes, as well as personal heatmaps, which show “hot” in areas of populated activity. You can use that to gauge how crowded you can expect your running route to be, as well as for finding new ones that aren’t isolated.
“Strava is a community of athletes helping each other achieve their goals,” said James Quarles, CEO of Strava, in a press release. “Summit Packs are designed to better tailor and personalize our features to members’ needs. Whether your goal is returning from injury or training for your first marathon, Summit Packs provide the performance tools you need along the way.”
There are also two other packages debuting today as part of the complete Summit Package. The Training Pack offers training for athletes of all kinds, giving them access to training plans, GPS-tracking, race analysis, and filtered leaderboards by age and weight.
Finally, there’s the Analysis Pack, which gives a deep dive into your performance data. This includes breaking down workouts, paces, impact of your workout over time, whether it’s time to race or rest, and power data to assess performance and fitness.
All three packs are available individually for $23.99 a year with a Summit membership, or for $2.99 per month. You can also get the trio in one bundle for $59.99 annually, or you can try all three out monthly for $7.99 per month.
